Based in the vibrant coastal town of Oamaru, Network Waitaki is an electricity distribution and energy services business that powers our local economy.

Network Waitaki Contracting provide electrical construction and maintenance services across New Zealand. We are based in Oamaru with a team of approximately 60 people across management and field staff within our contracting team.
 

About the Role

As part of our Traffic Management crew, you’ll play a key role in keeping our worksites safe for everyone – our teams, contractors, and the public. You’ll be responsible for setting up, maintaining, and removing temporary traffic management in line with approved plans. Whether you’re directing traffic, monitoring site conditions, or communicating with road users, you’ll help ensure everything runs smoothly and safely.

We work under the NZ Guide to Temporary Traffic Management (NZGTTM), which puts a strong focus on risk-based decision making. That means you’ll need to think on your feet, assess changing conditions, and apply good judgment to manage risks in real-time. The work is hands-on and outdoors in all weather, and there may be times when you’re needed after hours or outside of the Oamaru area. Preferred attributes:

• A great attitude and strong focus on safety
• Experience as a TMO or STMS is a plus, but not essential
• Comprehensive knowledge of NZGTTM preferred
• A full Class 1 Driver's Licence (Class 2 a bonus)
• Physically fit and happy working outdoors
• Good communication skills (verbal and written)
